The NYT Paper Cuts book blog discusses the author Charles Yu.

Charles Yu’s first novel, “How to Live Safely in a Science Fictional Universe,” was reviewed for us this past weekend by Ander Monson, who called it “a complex, brainy, genre-hopping joyride of a story, far more than the sum of its component parts.” He also compared the book (narrated by a time-machine repairman who lives with a virtual dog and a neurotic piece of software) to the work of Douglas Adams. “Like Adams,” Monson wrote, Yu is “very funny, usually proportional to the wildness of his inventions.”
