Anonymous Patron writes "In an article from Colorlines (http://www.arc.org/C_Lines/CLArchive/story8_3_03. html),Janine MacBeth claims multicultural children's literature has come a long way, or has it?"
Actually, many of these books are now available online from many different libraries from around the world. Whie they may not sell many copies in the US, a number of popular Arabic and African children's books are available from the UN or the Alexandria library (http://www.bibalex.org/English/index.aspx)
Other good children's books from around the world can be found electronically from the Pennsylvani university site at: http://digital.library.upenn.edu/books/
Regretfully, not enough countries insist on putting their national literature online in the original language and in translation for the rest of the world to enjoy. I wish they would.
