Just a dream

With archaic library standards and methodologies such as MARC and AACR2 that are two-dimensional and too rigid, the general reluctance for libraries to adopt "non-library" standards and methodologies, and the tendancy for libraries to be more process-oriented than content-oriented, it is difficult for libraries to do anything sophisticated that requires lateral/flexible thinking and imagination. Therefore, I think a "recommendation engine" is beyond contemplation, let alone ability or capability, for libraries.
