Garrison Keillor on the GOP

Keillor writes, "How did the Party of Lincoln and Liberty transmogrify into the party of Newt Gingrich’s evil spawn and their Etch-A-Sketch president, a dull and rigid man, whose philosophy is a jumble of badly sutured body parts trying to walk?"

In These Times.

Juxtaposition!

Thanks for taking the time to post your link to that piece. I read it while watching someone of a very different stripe give his speech at the RNC. To say that I was appalled by Zell Miller's words is an understatement, but of course I'm a liberal, commie pinko AKA someone who's planning on casting my vote for Kerry, someone who doesn't feel that being Christian is the key to good government or governing, someone who does not believe that the USA has a Divine calling.

Garrison Keillor said it best when he wrote

Dante said that the hottest place in Hell is reserved for those who in time of crisis remain neutral, so I have spoken my piece, and thank you, dear reader. It’s a beautiful world, rain or shine, and there is more to life than winning.
Thank you, birdie!

Re:Juxtaposition!

Garrison said it eloquently; I'm glad to have posted it.

Re:Juxtaposition!

Indeed he did state his views eloquently.

Perhaps the reason my earlier post was moderated as "Flamebait" was due to a misunderstanding - possibly my hyperbole was read as gauntlet throwing? And here I was just trying to make sure I wouldn't have a reserved place in hell.

Thank goodness you didn't misunderstand, birdie, and for that I'll be ever thankful.
