I've started a new job as Head of Acquisitions in an academic library this week. I plan to keep a journal/blog of this adventure.
One of the first things to deal with is overcoming the completely unfounded perceptions of librarians. Where do we get this? In truth, most college students don't even interact that much with the library staff for anything outside the required paper.
As I become acquainted with this community, I'm excited to find how interesting it is.
