Fark.com (don't go there if you are easily offended)is discussing a Boston Globe article about the library adding Dance Dance Revolution (DDR) and DVDs to their collections to increase traffic.
Fark is a generally negative place but the comments about libraries are quite interesting.

Wow.
I am a regular reader of Fark (everyone has a vice, right?), and I'm surprised at the number of pro-library comments. The level of snark is much lower than usual, that's for sure!
You gotta love it
"Gone are the hushed bibliothecae of yore where even an occasional irreverent clicking of a heel prompted furrowed brows of disapproval." Don't you love these fillers in newspaper articles about the "new" breed of librarians/libraries? I recall a storefront library in a tiny town run by a school teacher, not a librarian, that could possibly fit this description, but otherwise someone's using the same quote book of misguided blather and spin everytime an article on libraries sees the light of day. My PL does every thing it can think of, and has for the last 40 years, to bring in clients (except stock Christian books and journals). The next plan is an in-house coffee shop--I guess they've seen people reading in Starbucks.
