Online textbooks: the future of learning?

Montgomery High School teacher Gerald French thought his students would have a better shot at learning biology if he gave them a password to learn it online instead of from a book. French said he's trying to cajole and motivate students who may not have an innate interest in biology. He also sees his job as not just to teach biology, but to prepare his students for the technology-driven world they'll face as adults.

Labour dispute disrupting BC library services

More than 100 library workers picketed and shut down the Greater Victoria Public Library system's eight branches for five hours yesterday. Libraries are open today, but with reduced services. It's the latest job action in a labour dispute between CUPE Local 410, which represents library workers, and the 10 municipalities that pay their wages.
