Not worth it

This place is getting stranger and stranger. The sex offenders, the people posting on old discussions, the hit and run posts. I am going out Mexico way... well Texas way as part of a DMAT team tomorrow afternoon.

I was going to bring my laptop along, but I don't think it is worth it. I think it will be nice to be away from the computer for a while. The Palin non-story is really beginning to tire me from typing the same thing, and then someone else comes along to try to make a scandal out of it, now that is fine, but it is obvious that nobody is reading the other posts on this site as all of the points and counter points have been made already James and Shana.

I prefer LISNews as a whole rather than just the comments I've been reading lately. It seems my style of reading LISNews has shifted from the center - where the real...well LIS News is, to the comments on the side. I think will change back and a little break may just help that. I am glad to hear Sanford Berman is getting well, and I think I may read Charlie again after reading the Roald Dahl story, and September 13 is Roald Dahl day!

So not reading LISNews for a few days will be a good thing. Perhaps some of the whackyness will go away when I stop reading and posting. Hey, quit thinking that! Correlation does not equal causation.

Stay safe my hurricane facing friends. I'll be in your town over the weekend so if you need a nurse or a librarian just yell.

Well....

Don't forget about the podcast! It seriously won't be all about Palin. Granted, there will be a discussion with Jessamyn about the incident at her blog but that one was perhaps quite appropriate. Jessamyn did catch the eye of at least one mainstream news outlet with the recent kerfluffle.

I'm working on at least one piece that is not elections-related for the next podcast episode. I fired off an interview inquiry and am waiting for any reply. A nice gentleman at a F/OSS firm wrote about a recent Harry Potter case and had perspectives of interest from outside the profession.

If you want to talk about working with DMAT, I would be happy to take the time to chat. If you IM me I can give you the cell number on this end to call. Blake has the number as well if you cannot reach me. As long as you can reach my team before 0230 UTC Monday we'll have enough time to record and get you in the episode.
